Engine insulation
- Thread starter kitchens
- Start date
I recall contemporary reports that 924s in dark colours in the US and other hot climates suffered fuel injection problems...maybe early 944s were fitted with underbonnet insulation?
TBH I'd be glad of something to deal with the condensation that drips off the u/s of the bonnet and on to the servo and strut mounts....
I believe, like Graham, that the insulation was dropped on the later cars. My 924 had it, but the 944 (1992 S2) doesn't and never has had. Actually, on the 924 it was a pain because it dries out with age and gradually changes into a powdery deposit which gets all over the engine bay. There are lots of threads on Rennlist about the best way to remove it, which is not easy and always messy. I'd say you're best off without it!
Cheers,
