Engine is Hesitating

Over the past couple of weeks I can feel my engine starting to hesitate slightly when I first apply throttle, tends to happen most in third. It's only for a split second but you can feel it. It's going in for an inspection in 4 weeks but wonder whether there is anything I can do in the short term?

Any ideas?
