Engine Lid Question ?

Does anybody know if the C2 engine lid is the same size as an '88 Carrera one and should swop over without too much hassle? Thanks

Anthony,

I think it depends on what you are expecting. The lid itself is, I believe, the right shape and size, but from what I remember from comments elsewhere, the hinges are completely different and, of course, the aperture for the spoiler is totally different. Is it a swap? - sort of. No hassle? - no chance!!

Regards

Dave

Thanks Dave, I think I will proceed (with caution ) Its just that Ive modded my new C2 Jap Import to the RS America spec and I don't believe they were produced without the tail or at least none on here have it missing.http://www.rsamerica.net

Didn't they just bung left over engine lids from the 964/965 turbos on to the RS america?

Guaranteed fit but probably more expensive to buy.

A lid from an '88 car will fit providing you have the necessary brackets that bolt between your hinges and the different pitch fixings on the older lid.
These are available from Porsche, I think they are shown on the PET for Turbo models, but are about £80.00 each!

I fitted an '87 lid and SC spoiler onto my car which apart from the unused hole for the wiper is identical to the RS America item. I made up my own brackets, which many others have done as well, and can send you some photos if you let me have your email.

You will also need to bridge pins 3 & 7 in the 10 pin multipug after removing the electric spoiler and wiring from the car. This prevents the spoiler failure light from coming on.

If you are at Blenheim Saturday look out for my car in the register display. If I'm with the car you can take pictures yourself. Its red with white Carrera script on the sides.

Good luck.
