engine light, mis-fire, check engine panic

hi all
i had this problem 2 years ago and it turned out to be dirty fuel and once I had used it up and filled up again with fresh fuel the problem went away

I then had this problem again for about 150 miles 3 weeks ago and used the same approach, flushed it through with other fuel from a different garage and the car was running fine
but then on monday i filled up with super unleaded at my local tesco/esso operated garage in newport and almost immediately the car was chugging when i put my foot down
no errors for about 100 miles but something wasn't right i could feel it, then this morning i had major coughing, re-occurring engine lights that cleared but then came back, no acceleration and it sounds like a 30 year old VW beetle!!

i am hoping it will self-correct and am planning to try fresh fuel when i get to halfway (not from the /tesco garage/esso) but wanted to ask the forum what your thoughts are on other possible causes, MAF sensor, dirty injectors, fuel filter?

she has done 71k is a 2007 and had a major last year from RS Porsche in cardiff before he closed

PS - I have contacted Esso/Tesco and apparently they haven't had any other complaints - mmmm

Coil packs.....notorious for the symptoms you have. Whip it into the dealer - a diagnostic check will soon reveal all (hopefully!)[;)]

Edit - having read Clive's assessment below I have a feeling that if the HP pump fails it won't run at all - speaking from personal experience....[&:]

Suspect high pressure fuel pump. I never use supermarket fuel if I can help it. []

Regards,

Clive.

cheers guys, I just got off the phone to chris denning sports cars in cardiff and he immediately said coil packs...AA are en-route and hopefully they can confirm with their diagnostic machine then its off to see Chris, fingers crossed!

Yep all fixed, got them all done as 4 were cracked and one was really bad, she is purring again thanks to Chris Denning Sports Cars in Cardiff!
#relieved![:)]

It would've been highly unlikely to come across dirty fuel that many times. I stick to V power because of its combination of properties but I don't think other brands should be avoided for the risk of pedalling dirty fuel on a regular basis.

You did, we'll done [:)] thanks.....last time I had dirty fuel it was actually from tesco and I got over £3k compo! [:D]
