Just thought I'd share my experience of changing engine mounts on my 993 C2 and say that if you haven't done so already, the effect on the stability of the car really is as good as certain websites would have you believe.
I've went for the std. C2 mounts (rubber and hydraulic) rather than any of the stiffer options (C4 or RS) and it's made the car feel far more stable at speed, particularly over road undulation.
You can see in the picture, how much mine had dropped - old one is on the right. This wasn't so visible when it was on the car, but you could see the gap a bit. My cars just short of 60K.
My level of knowledge and skill level is much lower than lots of others on here, but I must say that having seen these mounts supporting the rear of the engine, I certainly won't be about to raise the rear of my car by jacking under the engine as suggested on many Internet sites. Doesn't seem right to be jacking up against these flexible mounts that just cost a tad of money to replace. That's just my opinion of course.
Anyway, if you've been considering changing these mounts, I'd say go for it !
Cheers
Andrew
