Engine mounts

Try JMG first Ken. Not the cheapest but he should be able to guarantee that theyre hydraulic.

I bought mine from Frazerpart. They are manufactured by Meyle. If you look on the Meyle website they are listed as a hydro bearing. http://www.frazerpart.com/acatalog/944__all_models__924S___968_engine_mount.html#SID=16 They looked identical to the OE parts (other than the OE ones were fairly squashed) and fitted perfectly.

I fitted Meyle ones to my 944S - they were indeed good quality, but I had been told by Jon at JMG that they are a solid item, despite the name. I asked for a quite from JMG at the time but they never bothered to come back to me. Berlyn Services are worth trying as well, but when I priced up genuine ones none of the usual suspects could offer much discount over opc.

I have emailed Meyle requesting more information about their "hydro bearing", specifically, whether it is oil filled or not. Will post up whatever info I get back from them.

Would you consider these I knocked up in the back shed ;) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ENGINE-MOTOR-MOUNTS-Porsche-924-944-968-/181572909675?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2a4696ba6b

I recently asked for advice regarding engine mounts for my 951 on the forum. Initially informed that the 'Meyle' ones were ok & the ones to use, I think that their description of them as being 'Hydro Mounts' lulls you into, a false sense of well being. However after I had finished installing them, other posters had suggested that they were not entirely satisfactory & that they were indeed 'solid' mounts. Result is that I now have some mild vibration being transmitted into the vehicle, can feel it mainly through the gear stick, definitely not apparent prior to fitting the replacement mounts. If I were using the car on a daily basis I would seriously consider changing to the 'proper hydraulic mounts' but the thought of doing the job again so soon fills me with complete dread, 14 hours under axle stands, partly my own fault as I followed a few false turns which wasted time. A certain 911&PW 944 owner said that only the genuine mounts were fluid in his experience. He did say that whilst the new mounts did improve things there was a clear difference between genuine mounts and pattern Meyle ones sold by a very well known supplier in terms of NVH (his car gained vibrations upon the mount change which his previous 944 did not exibit). The difference was described as improving things with the new mounts significantly with the Meyle items but giving back the new car feel when he went genuine.
