Has anyone had the need to change there engine mounts, if so whats involved, can it be done with the engine in place?

Don't think it is a known weakness for the 993 so no experience myself - not like the 944's I have owned in the past !!

the mounts are easily replaced and the engine needs to be supported when doing so! There are two M8 bolts in the engine bay per mount and either a 17 or 19mm nut got to from under the car where there is a hole for access. There is a article on the subject on 'p-car.com'. I replaced mine with RS mounts when I thought I could feel engine weight shift whilst going too fast on a long sweeping bend and changing gear, I looked at the hydraulic units when I took them off and could not determine if they needed replacing or were worn, the car has 100K on it so I justified the replacement of them.

best wishes
David

Thanks for all your help. I am going to order a set from Gert. My car has done 106000 miles.
