Engine Mounts

Hi all. I need to replace engine mounts and after researching standard parts available I stumbled across semi-solid mounts. Does anyone have any experience of these or any recommendations they can make? My car is strictly used on the road. Thanks, John.

Hi John, I swapped out my old and rather soft OEM ones for a pair of RSS ones from 911UK. The car feels a lot more positive, a little more vibration at tick over and engine noise though its not intrusive. Gear change feels a bit more positive so as far as I can see its a win win change. Changing the mounts took about 45 mins, the hardest bit was shifting the engine hanger nut, braker bar with a short scaffold tube fixed that.

Hope this helps a bit in working out what to do next

Hi John, I have the RS mounts fitted (I think they are from the 964 RS?). Carnewal and others sell them as a kit for the 996 with bolts etc. Made a great difference but then my car was still on the originals and had over 90k miles on the clock.

Genuine Porsche parts as well! I had them fitted as part of my annual service at Dove House - they just charged me 30 mins work!

The Targa needs a right hand mount as it's leaking, anyone fitted semi solid to a Targa? Concerned about the roof rattle if I go for non Targa OEM...
