Engine Number

Can anyone tell me if there is somewhere else the engine serial number is located other than on the block at the side of the underside.

I was told the car had a replacement/donor engine when I bought it, but I think the logbook was never updated to reflect this.

Unfortunately the highly trained craftsman who put the number on the engine managed the stamp it on the edge so it is almost impossible to read it.

They are very difficult to read. You usually need to get underneath with a small wire brush or emery cloth to clean up the plate.

If the engine serial number starts with AT (AusTousch) it means it is a factory rebuild.

That's the only place on the car it is recorded.

I believe the engine came from a donor car, and was not a new replacement.

I shall have another good look and clean of the engine stamp and hopefully be able to read it.

Thanks
