Hi there,
just brought me a 1975 911, im new to this but my car has had a engine swop after the 2.7 gave up.
The replacement was a 3.0 sc engine and iv been trying to find out more info on it, as i have not got alot papwerwork about this.
One engine number is 930/09 i beleave this means that yes its a 930 and the 09 is 1980 and 188hp
The other number is *6300215* then 3,2 then on top of the fan :-/ (not sure what its called) is 901 106 101 5R
can anyone tell me if i have a Ruf upgraded engine? or am i barking up the wrong tree.

I would appreciate any help

Can't add much; the 930/09 engine is the 3.0SC from 1979/80, about 4800 cars were manufactured, CR is 8.6:1 and as you say, 188bhp.
I suspect that the 901-etc number on the fan cover is the Porsche part number; originally the 911 was labelled a 901 but Peugeot complained as they'd registered all car numbers with a "0" in the middle. A lot of part numbers on the SC still carry the 901 prefix though.
You can check this on the web as the factory parts lists and exploded diagrams are all available to look at.
If you check with the factory regarding the engine number, they will tell you the details as manufactured, but this won't help if there have been more recent upgrades to it.
Good luck, and happy motoring.

Its from a 1980 SC, the number on the fan case is just a cast number, not a relevant Porsche number. 630 (1980) 0215 (serial number) Not sure why you think its Ruf?

Hi thre, I know but there is a stamped number after the 0215 and it 3.2, Ruf did a 215hp 3.2
I have read that the fuel lines to the injectors would have been upgraded to steel and there not so I think
It's not, but why has it been stamped 3.2?
Maybe the cylinders have been enlarged by a rebuild company and stamped it on for future reference.
I don't know iv done a lot of reading in the last month and think I'm lost in the world of Porsche's.
