Engine Oil and Coolant issue

Hey guys, newbie here. I got my cayman in Nov last year. So basically had her for about 2 months now and absolutely love it!!!

Ive got an silver 06 Cayman S.

However, ever since the start ive always experienced engine oil issues in the sense that it always seems to run low! I've used nearly 2 ltr of 0w 40 mobile 1 oil in about 2 months or 1800 miles. Is this normal? Have any of you experienced this?

Always whats more worrying now is that check coolant level warning has come on and the light is flashing near the water temp. Since ive never had to top up coolant in my previous cars this is a bit new to me so hope u can all help. What coolant do i need to buy and from where can i get it? I was hoping i could get the coolant in probably halfords as my dealer is about 35 miles away and i dont want to be running my car with low coolant.

I've had a look at the coolant and i basically cant see any. I've taken it to a porsche specialist before to have a look and they claim theres nothing wrong with it, so is it normally for these to use coolant quick aswell? Do you always need coolant and engine oil as back up in the cars?

Also would it be safe to drive the car now with it being such low coolant is there anything i could substitute the coolant with? i,e. water?

Hope you can help and nice to speak to u all for the first time

sounds like the head gasket to me ...... get it check out now before it gets worse and costly. were in the country are you

Hi Tony, Dont want to sound like an alarmist, but this doesnt sound good. Coolant lose shouldnt happen, nor should you be using 2 litres of oil. I'm assuming you didnt buy the car from a Porsche centre, or it would be under warranty, was it a private purchase or did you buy it from an independent?...and how many miles has it on the clock? You should still be ok to drive the car to / from a dealer/specialist as long as it doesnt overheat/management light (yellow) also displays. What about the fans in the nose of the car, are they running all the time?..can happen if short of water. Let us know how you get on...

Hi Tony, I agree with the other guys, I think it need to go to the garage pretty quickly. If you don't have the proper Porsche coolant, you could use distilled water, or if not tap water would be OK probably in an emergency. In the meantime, do you park the car in a garage, are there any leaks on the floor? Alex
