Engine oil capacity

Hiya,

Just wondering what is the capacity of the 964 engine in terms of oil. My car had been over filled by 1 litre which I feel was too much so how much does it take to fill to the top marker. I know there is a gap of 1.7 litres between top and bottom markers.

Ray,

The total capacity is approx. 11.5 litres although when you change the oil you won't get all of that out. The manual suggests approx. 9 litres on an oil change of which 6 litres should be added first and the engine started to warm up the oil and a further 3 litres added to top up to the correct level. An overfill of 1 litre is not a lot although better to be a little below max than over.
