Engine oil

Hi,

Just went to purchase Mobil 1 for forthcoming service. I bought 0W 40 as that's all they had in stock, although I think Porsche recommend 5W 40. Knowing absolutely nothing at all about oils, assume the one I've bought will be ok?

Cheers,
Mike.

Given the time of year (& global warming) 5W-40 as Porsche recommend is ideal, but 0W-40 is also recommended & I'd be surprised if the OPC's don't use 0W-40 themselves.

9litres is the requirement - a bit of a pain as Mobil 1 comes in 4L packs!

Just bought 10L of Mobil 0-40 (Latest Fully Synth) for £91.98 from Halfords.
There selling it in 5L packs now @ £45.99.

My Boxster had full OPC service history, I did a oil change myself the other day with the Mobil 0-40, the difference is amazing, goes like a rocket now, very impressed.

Hope this helps.

It's readily available in 1litre bottles at all the usual outlets. [:)]

I know but at a premium!

I like to try to buy oil in 5l packs so I have some to top up if necessary. I have used Oilman (Opie Oils) for the last few services on my cars - shopping online with home delivery is so convenient! I got my last lot of Silkolene Pro5s whilst it was still on the Porsche approved list.

btw - nice to see your Boxster in the PP a while back[;)]

Buy your Mobil 1 from Costco if there is one nearby.

£20-23 & Vat for 4/5 ltrs - cannot remember exactly.

is this true it would cost me about £40 to £50 just to buy the oil my self that is hard to believe but i will phone kwik fit first thing in the morning i hope you are right its knot worth me doing the oil change my self for that price thanks
