Engine out or not?

I heared differing opinions regarding the replacement of fuel lines.
Does anyone know whether the engine has to come out to replace the fuel lines. I was thinking of tackling this job myself. Have any of you folks done this? and do you have any tips that make the job easier or things to avoid. Cheers
