Engine POP

Hi,
I test drove a 911 SC 82 and noticed a slight noise on high revs as if the exhaust was blowing.
It was quite faint but I did notice it sometimes.
Any idea if this is engine trouble?

Also when I engaged the clutch in first gear it shuddered before moving, however all other engages ir 2,3,4 were fine.
Is this a clutch or clutch pressure plate problem?

thanks

Amo

You need to get your car up on a jack and check the clutch adjustment , if that deosn't cure it then you may be looking at a new clutch. Do you know when it was last changed?
Be more descriptive about the noise at high revs and we can probably help. Is it there when you rev the car stationery, is it a backfire on throttle off, is it a misfire, is it limiting the cars top end performance ie does it rev freely above 100mph?- on a track of course - if it's not a backfire and it's only at high revs it could be a loose head, broken stud and a few other related things. Have a think about how you can best describe the sound and post back.

Hi, The noise comes when stationary of movement. The engine is strong and very responsive with no hesitation. However at about 4k RPM, you get a split second noise like the exhaust is blowing.
Apart from that it revs sweet.

thanks

Hard to diagnose Amolak , when you say '...stationery of movement....' do you mean stationery? Inexpensive parts to replace which you would do anyway in the course of ownership are the distributor cap, rotor and spark plugs. Run some injector cleaner such as Redex through the system and try Optimax fuel.
