hello there i have a 1984 2.5 lux and although the engine seems fine i am considering a engine rebuild by the porsche shop.co.uk the price of this is 2000 + vat. the price includes the following::::
We use a good original Block / Crank / Pistons & rods / Cylinder Head. All of these are checked for wear / damage and measured against tolerances and only used if they meet these.
The cylinder head has new valve guides, valves; valve stems oil seals and is skimmed if necessary.
The Block has new piston rings, big end bearings, main bearings, and balance shaft bearings, con rod nuts, rebuilt oil pump
New oil pump drive, new water pump , cam belt / balance belt plus all tensioners & idlers. New cylinder head nuts & washers
All seals & gaskets, inc cam shaft, balance shaft, crank shaft, rear crank, sump & oil cooler, are replaced.
There are also a number of small components replaced, such as top hats, neoprene seals for the cam / balance shaft plus other like oil filter & spark Plugs.
The price does not include the retension and the warrantee is for 12 months and covers the whole engine. The only other thing to consider is the clutch as there is no extra labour involved in changing while the engine is out.
what do you all think??? is there anywhere else that does this in the north (leeds area) and is it worth doing all this just to make it run mint. i do plan on having the car for alot of years and if the engine is running like new then it should last it with all that been done. let me know what you think or if you know if any one else has had this done. thanks
