engine rebuild, questions

Hi,

i'm currently stripping down my 911sc for an engine rebuild, i've got a week to do it in and have found one of my first problems. my car had been making a funny popping noise and we sourced it back to the "smog pump" as it's described in "wayne dempseys guide to rebuilding a 911sc". i've found that one of the puymp blades has disintegrated and gone into the 1 way valve. i have had troubles finding one at euro-parts and don't know if i'm just searching in the wrong place, i would be very greatful if anyone has any input. the car i'm working on is a '78 911sc 3.0 litre. i've ordered up all other major engine parts but still have to order some form euro-parts. so will order one from there or uk based if possible.

regards

alastair

Hi Alastair,
I rebuilt my engine last winter (you'll do well in a week) and I didn't put the "Air Pump" back but bought plugs for the where the injectors have been removed form the cylinder heads. It all works fine.
If you really need it I have the kit taken from my car but I will be away most of this week!
Good luck

Try the usual Porsche breakers or you may have to buy new from Porsche, its still available according to the parts list. There may be equivalents available from other manufacturers who fitted similar systems at the time but I don't know who that would be. If you haven't rebuilt a Porsche engine before and you are doing the job yourself, I 'd suggest spending more time than a week on it............repent at leisure etc.
