Engine removal !

having now established the cause of the burnt valve on the Turbo (see previous post with flame cut exhaust valve) I'm now, on advice from my engine chap going to remove the block for overhaul and rebuild. Given thats theres only the block and turbo in the engine bay, how easy is it to remove the lump out of the top of the engine ?

I really don't fancy having to drop the suspension and take it out the bottom ?

It may be worth asking on Rennlist as they are more used to the home removal of 944T engines. Everything I've read suggests it can be done from above but is easier from below. Trouble is you need to get the car high enough which can be problematical without a lift [>:]

What turned out to be the cause of the valve problem?

Only 21" clearance required.[X(]

Never done one from above, could be expensive if you catch the wing.

Best lower the engine onto an old carpet and tilt to the exhaust side, two people can easily drag the engine out on the carpet.
