Engine temp

I am sure this has been spoken about many times, but what do your engines run at when hot mine seems to be well over 80 hard to tell the tempreture exact reading on these gauges, but it seems high to me.

Look forward to hearing from you all.

Hi Phil. It should be around the 90 to 95 mark - but, as you say, it is hard to tell as there's no markers between 80 and 100 (at least I don't think there is - I'll have to have a look). Sounds like yours is fine. I find that mine runs slightly hotter in hotter weather and, as such, have not seen it do that for some time [:D] She got pretty warm (95 to 100) when I took it down to the Lot Valley - especially if I got held up in traffic - all pretty normal stuff. Sounds like yours is fine.
Adrian.

Hello Adrian

Its not higher than 95 thats for sure, funny as the Lot is where i have been in France the area is near St Cere very rural lovely in the 911, it got very warm with a 5 hour drive from Royan on the west coast to the lot, what a great drive. The problem is the fuel pump let me down and i have left the car there flew home had to get back for work, fuel pump has been fixed and my father has been test driving it as they live there for some of the year, he mentioned he thought it was running hot.

Thanks again.

Phil

It is - there's a nice run out to Rodez from there as well. Been going there for quite a while now - so think that we might try somewhere different next time.
I saw the Tour go through Figeac in 2004 (I think) - it was the last year that Virenque rode....?

I missed it this year wanted to see the tour as i love cycling. Next year maybe. Rodez i normally fly to and will be on Friday to collect my 996. Great roads round there it helps not having so many cars on the road.

Cheers Phil

Now we've got the cycling out the way......[:D] [:D] [:D]

From previous threads, 90-95 normal running sounds a bit high. Most people seem to report the needle running close to the '0' of the 80, going up to mid way between 80 and 100 in heavy stop-start traffic.

Are the cooling fans running OK?

yeah, me too. Once warm, gauge reads with the needle right in the middle of the 0 in 80 and never goes higher.

Richard

Your description sounds spot on quiet close to the 0 on the 80, but in heavey traffic it soon goes up to midway between 80 and 100. Cooling fans work ok can hear them cut in.

Thanks everyone.

Phil

mine runs exactly upthe line of the thermometer drawing when running on the motorway, when stuck on my favourite part of the M4 elevated section in first and second, it moves a couple of gauge points further right but never beyond 90.

All the best

I havent got the car with me at the moment so cant look but had a job to work out which is 90 as by memory it has an 80 mark then 110 in between the 80 - 110 there is another indicator which i preume is 100? and 90 would be between that and 80 but no indicator, so always a bit hard to know a more acurate reading, my every day car a 207 has reading 70,80,90,100 110, so you have a very clear indicator, just a point while we are on the subject.

Phil

Drove Back from south west France at the weekend did over 700 miles what a great trip, engine temp ran right in the middle of the 8 and the 0 in traffic went to the right of the 0 so the same as all you have said as well.

I could do that journey all over again tolls are expensive but break up the journey make it more fun pulling off and makes you realise how quick these cars are.

Thanks again.

Phil
