dificult to diagnose from a verbal description. My Lux whistled and my S2 sounds like a jumpjet according to people standing nearby .Both sounds are perfectly normal. You need to get your local indie to listen to it in case its the water pump or alternator pulley etc. Use a long handled screwdriver or a piece of dowel and place it on your ear and see if you can pinpoint where its vcoming from

Hi Turbs, Your are very right, I have a CTT08 and guess what I posted yesterday on the rennteam forum? ---------------- As it is cold over here and as my AC is on low, I am hearing a very anoying engine 'whine' at low rev's on my CTT08. Yes I know I am a bit of a 'mieren neuker' (for the Dutch between us) when it comes to noises but I am getting really annoyed. Actually my wifes landcruiser is quieter at slow speed. Am I the only one with the low rev (say 800-1500RPM) engine whine and very slight vibration <-- nobody else can spot the slight vitration it is only myself through my foot on the throttle
I have thought long and hard about putting this question on our board but I just want to know if it is me or others are experiencing the same. Cheers, Mark ----------------------- It is an engine 'whine' (I think) at low refs what is getting to my head at the moment. The car is only 1/2 year old and I think it is getting worse (I know it is mind play as well but still). At the first service (10.000km) I told our dealer that I had an annoying engine whine and indeed he told me that it was 'normal'[] NORMAL it is a blo....dy expensive car and it should be very quiet. As mentioned my wifes landcruiser is quieter at low ref. Not sure what to do but let's see what our fellow CTT08 owners have to say, any more who notice the noise??? OK you need to drive the car everyday to hear it but still. Cheers, Mark
Hi Mark, Sounds the same, its my second cayenne turbo and the other was silent , the stealer says its `normal` and its due to plastic engine casing,so you hear more engine noise i still dont agree. I am the same about annoying noises and will continue to pursue this with Porsche. I did try a GTS and it did sound teh same buts its not right. I got them to change a pulley bearing as they said this is what it originally was but not a lot different Keep in touch , let me know if you get any other replies on your other site Charlie

Hi Charlie, I was told as well that some have the 'Whining' noise and some not. Still don't know what to do as the noise is annoying but nobody else can hear it (only me) even wifie tells me I am paranoid, but still it is a very distinctive noise I really starting to hate. I don't really know what to do as if my dealer is going to take my beloved CTT apart I am sure she will never feel the same. Again I am a bit in limbo........... There is though a very nice Nordic Gold Turbo S in the showroom (already for a wee while). Although the car doesn't have all the options I have.... I could be considering to trade her in. Just a shame as I could end up with the 'Whine' as well as it is hit and miss according to my dealer. More fellow CTT 0708 drivers with a similar engine 'Whine'? and had done something about it? I'll keep you in the picture, again not sure what I am going to do (my CTT is still great and I have a lovely drive through some steep mountains this morning, what a power !!!!!!!!!!) Cheers, Mark
Hi Mark Just to let you know i have now put a complaint into Porsche GB technical asking them to look into this noise.I have also been to an independant who agrees its not right or we should not have to tolerate it. maybe if you contact your national porsche centre to ask them if there are any other complaints listed on their in hous tech board we may get somewhere, i think its an inferior bearing or pump Charlie

Hi Charlie, Thank you for letting me know. Let me investigate from my side. I think I mentioned that my dealers lead engineer confirmed already that there is a noise what is not right and told me that they had been investigating a case before but never found the cause. Hence my concern that they are going to pull my engine apart and the car will never be the same. I am off to Dubai tomorrow where PCO has organized a track event at the Autodrome. I am really looking forward to it as this is the first time I am going to take my CTT08 on a proper FIA approved race track. PCO has even instuctors coming from Germany (I think) and I am really looking forward to it. Maybe my CTT needs a good kick up the bu.d to iron out the noise (smile). As I will be meeting many others with CTT's I will try to drive other cars and see if I can find more cars with the noise I will keep you in the loop and post some pictures as well. Speak soon. Regards, Mark
