Enlighten Me!

Still working to get the tail lights on the 912 working properly.

I am down to one last problem.

The near side break light is not coming on. There is definately a current coming down the wires (it loops to the other lamp and that works fine). I have also put a screw driver across the connectors to the rear light and this lights up. So I can only assume it is a problem in the bulb holder preventing the current getting through - and YES the bulb is working - I've swapped them over and they both work fine in the driver's side.

The unit is a little corroded, but I've cleaned it up as best I can.

Any ideas?

I'll be looking for a new bulb holder if I can find one as I think that may be needed.

Sounds like you've come up with the the correct diagnosis Larry if you can take the unit completely to bits you might be able to remove all the corrosion, coat with some electrical grease (Halfords, little tubes) before reassembly.

sounds like a bad earth or conection with out looking at the lamp I can't tell but I get the old unit could be sorted out with some work..

Took it all apart and gave the holder a good wire brushing last night - and guess what? - works ok now[]

I'll get some of that electrical grease at next opportunity.

Don't you just love these old cars![8D]
