Mornings.

I have access to V-gate VS550 Code Reader (with OBDII connector)

My car is an OBD1 compliant car (big round plug) will a conversion cable allow me to read codes? The manual clearly states "for those cars equipped with next generation protocol Control Area Network (CAN) and is applicable to Petrol cars sold from 2004.

Is it worth getting the conversion cable (£14.00 Ebay) to have a go or is this a dog tree barking selection issue?

I'm always one for trying things just in case I can make it work, but, yes, I do think this is wrong tree!
Even the newer (scart-like) plug cars don't really conform to the OBD2 standards and need special interfaces to get at the data.
I have a modern reader that works fine on every vehicle I tried it on, but not on the 993. Durametric is the way to go.
 
Durametric is the way to go.
Even that will not find all faults, I am told, only totally good route is Hammer[:mad:]
