Richard's comment in another thread where he said the Durametric unit "is much more versatile than a simple code reader, and will allow you to interrogate the other systems on the car - not just the DME", made me start thinking ...
Is the specification for the 996's diagnositic data interface and the data protocols themselves publically available information? Presumably it must be available or 3rd party companies such as Durametric wouldn't be able to build their units? Does anyone know ?
If so, I was thinking whether it would be possible to write a little PC app to both interrogate the data and set things - such as turn on the outside air temp display that mine doesn't have.
