Further to the Frontrunners thread which went slightly off topic [&:]
A reminder of two events coming up that seem to cover the criticisms of the Frontrunners event. I guess that there is no excuse for any of us missing either event short of weddings or holidays...
Firstly, the Region 26 event at the National Trust property at Kingston Lacy in Dorset. I've copied the PP write-up in case you missed it, but this is both a car event and a family day out. As there is a specially arranged 944 class in the street concours, please come along and support the day.
Trefor Willingham has asked me to publicise the Region 26 Concours event on Sunday 18th June. Set in the grounds of the National Trust's Kingston Lacy House at Wimbourne, Dorset, it is set to be a great family event. Details are to be confirmed, but it looks as though the entry fee will be per car, so we have an advantage over the Boxster Register in that we can fit four people in each car! This will include entry to the grounds, and it will be worth taking the time to explore this stunning venue. Sponsored by Bournemouth Porsche Centre, there will be a full range of facilities, and a selection of trade stands. The concourse will include Master Class, Street and a 944 class, so please come along and enter, even if it's your first concourse event. One of the proudest moments of my 944 ownership was winning the Region 21 "Best Porsche Bodywork" award with a 19 year-old car, and I certainly didn't spend hours preparing for it! Everyone is welcome, not just the members of Region 26.
Secondly, there are places left for the Porsche and Polo event that Tony and Harriet Shannon have organised. Again, this is a day out where the family can enjoy themselves with the wide range of attractions while we have the Concours to satisfy the petrol-heads. Apparently the 964 owners have cleaned up in previous years, so it may be time for the 944's to arrive en-masse and re-capture the crown! Contact details below.
CONCOURS AT KIRTLINGTON
In addition to the many attractions at this Porsche and Polo event, a concours is being organised with the Premier Class for the serious competitor and the Street Class for those who just want to show and shine their Porsches. Admittance tickets for the event are for members' Porsche cars (including the driver and passengers) and are free to Porsche Club members.
Members from all regions are invited to participate in this prestigious and fun concours and compete for some excellent trophies provided by Porsche Centres Bristol, Cardiff and Swindon. The team of judges remain the same as those at the last Bowood event.
As in past years at Bowood, once again the Steve Bull Meister cup will be presented to the overall winner of the Premier Class.
To register for either concours, please contact Tony and Harriet Shannon by email at r16@porscheclubtb.com or telephone on 01249 822405 at the latest by 15th June 2006.
I'm really hoping that these events will be supported by the 944 register, and it would be great to meet a few new faces!
