Know the first road to Cap de Formentor really well, at least on a bike and hire car.
He must have got up very early to beat the cyclists and tourists.
The Night Manager was filmed near the start of it.

Thanks for that - nice video, which I hadn't seen before. I drive a Guards Red Boxster, a 2005 987S. I'm thinking I should get it out to Majorca and drive those roads, early in the morning and late at night! Thanks again...
 
I rode down (and up!) Sa Collobra just last week. Have ridden both featured roads many times as have many thousands of keen cyclists over the years. Formentor hugely improved now that they've resurfaced it.
You could easily spend a week there enjoying the mainly deserted roads. The famous climbs are busy but the extent of good quiet roads is vast and the scenery is lovely. My favourite for car or bike is Valdemosa to Andratx, a staggeringly beautiful section hugging the dramatic coastline every inch of the way.
