We've started to firm up arrangements for the EWOTY so here's a bit of an update:

Please can you pay your 2nd deposit of £120 at the next meeting or if you want bank details please PM me.

Please can you also ensure you have booked you channel crossings:

Tuesday 19th Sept - Folkstone to Calais at 9.20am

Friday 22nd Sept - Calais to Folkstone at 18.50pm

Monday 18th - Conningsbrook Hotel in Kent

This is booked

The cost for this is £125 for dinner, bed and breakfast (double) £80 single.

You have already paid a £10 deposit for this. You will need to pay the balance plus any drinks/extras on leaving on Tuesday 19th.

Tuesday 19th - Travel to La Chartre Sur Le Loir

Wednesday 20th - 'Chateaux Run'. A route from La Charte to Langeais for coffee and cake, onto Rigny Usse via a lovely drive along the Loire River. Lunch in Usse and a visit to the Chateau (the Chateau is said to have inspired the story 'Sleeping Beauty'. There is also a lovely local produce shop selling the local wine, beer etc. After lunch then onto Chinon.

Thursday 21st - Visit to Porsche Experience Centre at the Le Mans 24 Hour Circuit. The programme for this is

10am - Welcome to the museum.

10.15 - 11.45am - Guided tour of the museum

12 - 2pm - Lunch at the Porsche Experience Centre

2pm onwards - Visit to the City of Le Mans and the old quarter

The cost for this is approx £12 for the tour and £35 for the 3 course meal. I will be paying a 40% deposit which will be added to your final payment in July.

Friday 22nd - Leave La Chartre. Head for Honfleur for lunch and a look around then back to the tunnel terminal.

All stay and breakfasts at the Hotel de France will be paid for once you have paid your final payment in July. Evening meals will be sorted out nearer the time. These are 35 euros per person for a 4 course meal.

The final payment will depend on what room you have booked and the exchange rate (which is hopefully slowly creeping up again). You will get personalised details of your payments/balance.

*Please can you let us know if you have any special dietary requirements*

Friday 22nd - Stay at the Conningsbrook Hotel, Kent again. This is booked. The booking is for dinner, bed and breakfast and is £125 per couple, £80 single, to pay at the hotel.

Saturday 23rd - Leave Kent and head for the National event at Ragley Hall (optional). If you are going to the National Event, we are staying at Southcrest Manor Hotel on the Saturday night. If you want to book the website is www.southcrestmanorhotel.com it will be up to you to book.

Just a follow on from what Mark has mentioned above, regarding what you will need when driving in France.

You are required by LAW to carry the following items and hefty on-the-spot fines can be issued for failing to carry specific items including:

- reflective jackets (one for each occupant and must be kept inside the vehicle within easy reach)

- warning triangle

- headlamp beam deflectors

- breathalysers

- a GB sticker or 'euro@ registration plates featuring GB initials.

Personally, I have never been stopped whilst driving in France, but a convoy of Porsche cars may attract "attention", so better to get the right "kit" than get a fine.

Also, as we will be using the Dartford crossing whilst traveling down to the hotel at Ashford, Kent on the 18th, you will have to make a one-off payment of £2.50 per crossing, by either going to their website or via a payzone retail outlet.

Those cars that are not going to Ragley Hall and heading straight back to the North, will need to pay 2 charges and those of us going to the National event on the Saturday will, hopefully need only 1, as the "quickest" way up to Ragley is via M20, M26, M25 (clockwise) & M40.

Good call, Chris & Pat, some good further info above, forgot all about the Dartford Crossing.

With regards to the head lights, later Porsche's such as the 986, 996, 987, 997 etc should be able to adjust to left hand drive without the need for stickers (see owner's manual). Just a quick point on the stickers for headlights. We lived in France for over eight years and never had stickers on our lights. We were stopped a number of times by the Police and they never once looked at our headlights. In fact, a very good friend of ours was/is a motorbike policeman in Paris and he asked what they were for and told us that he had never heard of them. Take from that what you will. However for a couple of quid, it wouldn't hurt to put a couple on; not that we'll be doing any night driving!
