Exhaust bypass recommendation

Hi,

Just wanted to share a tale of good service. If any fellow 997 or 996 owners are interested in having the "Gundo hack" exhaust modification, I had this done on Friday at Hayward & Scott in Basildon, Essex.

While-you-wait service and they also polished the exhaust tips too as a bonus!

Good price too: http://www.haywardandscott.com/porsche/911/997/porsche-996-997-gen-1-silencer-bypass-pipe.html

If anyone is considering it, and wants to hear it first, drop me a line. I'm near Birmingham. Ive never tried or heard the factory PSE, so can't really compare it, but mine now sounds better under acceleration, but no louder when cruising.

Cheers,
Matt

Hi folks. I've just bought a 2005 Carrera S fitted with a DesignTek muffler bypass. It was great on the road test but is just too loud with the roof off! IGS in Southampton are going to look at it next week with a view to reverting back to standard. Unless anyone on here wants to swop systems that is...

im looking for a straight sports pipe for my Porsche 997 turbo.

got miltek at the moment not impressed with the exhaust system. anyone else got ideas on a de cat exhaust system ?

I have bought the Capristo system with exhaust valves and its fantastic but expensive. The dyno report shows over 60+ bhp along with a race filter carbon system but no other mods have been done as i really wanted a stock car. The tailpipes are in ceramic black and don't char anymore and its a lovely deep sound with that overlay of twin turbos spinning like a race car. So many people comment on the sound. If your around London let me know and ill show you the car. Happy expensive shopping!

mmmm... When you say 'expensive' are we talking 2-3k or 4-5k?

Mmmmm exactly mine cost around £5000 all in but was worth every penny. The main expenses that bumped up the bill were new lamda sensors, heat shrouds which needed replacing and time to remove the original system. Normally this would cost less.
I'll try to put up a video to show you the system operation. It blows away any other system I have seen including the new IPe and Akropovics.

I will post something soon. I have ordered a GoPro specially! It really does sound menacing but actually gives the turbo the noise it always deserved. I am thrilled with the finished product. Also, the finish on the exhaust is stunning, all handmade, perfect fitment with no modifications needed. I am really amazing by the quality and have found myself lying behind the car gazing! What a nutter!~!
