Exhaust choice

Hi Guys

I love my 996 C2, I have spent far too much on it for the value of the car, but that's not why we own them is it, to worry about what you may get back. The new spend will be an exhaust, as all of us know its all a bit rusty and there is a rattle in one of the cats, I don't want a boomy exhaust, as I do lots of runs in her, circa 20k per year, but a little more performance and an improved sound would be good. Any suggestions, oh and by the way the purse is a little empty!,

The most economical way is to pick up a standard exhaust from the Bay of E and have someone do the "Gundo Hack" - basically welding a pipe to bypass part of the silencer.

I have just had a pair of polished dansk sport boxes put on mine it has stainlees GT3 tips on and it sound fantastic .

I went for Carnewal replacement mufflers from Belgium & have been delighted with the results on my 996.
Plenty of other satisfied customers if you look at previous threads on Pistonheads & indeed on here.

Thanks guys, I want a better sound but not too boomy on the motorway, I will look into all of the suggestions

The pipe modification mirrors the original PSE. There is a lovely bark but no boom. I really don't know why all 996s came with it! The noise is exactly what I miss on the turbo. Oettle used to do the modification and sold the silencers on eBay.
