Exhaust Clamps sizes

Hi,
I need to replace the clamps at the rear of the exhaust on a 2010 2.9 with the single tailpipe.

The two that mount the silencers to the T piece. Apparently they are common failures.

I have found some stainless steel replacements on eBay, but just want to check the sizes with someone who may know better. I am hoping that what is needed is 2 x 2” clamps (£25 the pair).

Has anyone done this that have any tips and also confirm that I have the correct size.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Can't help with sizes, but I bought Mikalor W2 clamps for my 987. They are only pennies so if you are not sure buy two sizes. As an example 47 to 51 mm is £1.80 each

Hi, thanks for the response.

I got the ones from eBay for £25 the pair. Having now got them they are 2.25 inch.

Just looked at the mikalor clamps and they may have done the job. Not quite as substantial as the ones I’ve got, but would probably have done.

The next job is to remove the original clamps which I think may have a spot weld on them so might need to break out an angle grinder.

Why does every job seem to be 10 times more difficult on the Boxster than my wife’s Fiesta?

Is it because it’s 100 times more enjoyable to drive.

Just to finish this thread off.

The clamps were 2.25” and were a doddle to do.

There were no spot welds.

I cut one off with a dremel which was nerve wracking being so close to the exhaust with a grinder, but took my time so it all went well. As I started to lever it off it was already split at the back so good job I changed it.

When it came to the 2nd clamp I wondered if this was also split and put a socket on the clamp bolt and as I started to turn it again was split so just came away.

The only fiddly bit of the whole job was squeezing the new brackets together, so the bolts could be put in. Did this with the aid of a wood clamp and harsh language.

About an hour with a quick coffee included.

Hi @Mike1960

I have just found both of my clips cracked and I wondered if these were the part you purchased from ebay?

Hi Adam,

those are the ones.

The nuts on the old ones had seized and the brackets just broke and fell off when I tried to release them.

regards Mike
