Exhaust damage?

This is a (bad) picture of my backbox.. as you can see- it appears to have split.

Car went over a big bump the other day and now seems a little sluggish, and perhaps sounds different, however, I could just be very paranoid.

Occasionally, it sounds a little wooshy when revving high, but other than that seems ok - although as I said, car seems a little sluggish and is having a little trouble starting (i need to put my foot on the acceleator).

Does the picture show damage that needs fixing? How easy is it to fix?

Thanks so much all.

Sam

Hi Sam. I'd say that the split doesn't look bad enough to create the type of symptoms that you're describing. If you need to put your foot on the gas to get it to start then it's more likely that you've upset your MAF in some way(?). Hopefully Richard will be along soon......

I agree with Adrian. My exhausts had the same seam split when I got them but work fine. A quick test is put your hand near split when engine is running and you will feel the gasses escaping if it really is leaking. My guess is either elsewhere on the exhaust system (manifold bolts can shear off if heavily rusted) or MAF as adrian suggests.

Take it along to a local porsche independent for some peace of mind is my advise.
