exhaust for tracks with noise limits

Hello,
I am the proud owner of a 964 RS N/GT here in Madrid, Spain, and I have problems in some tracks with the noise limits impose by them because my car makes a wonderful 106db! I have read that there are especial exhaust that fits on the tip of the actual exhaust and can be removed easily.
I want to ask if some of you have experience with these type of exhausts on our RS´s and wich brand is the best one in your experience, having in mind that some tracks, like Jarama, have a limit of 95db on track-days, that by the way is a ridicolous low limit.

Thanks and best regards

Juan

There have been quite a few posts on this.

My own N-GT had a cat bypass, cup primary, and G pipe when I first drove it. Fruity was --- a kind description of the "pump up the volume" factor.

I believe it was around 110dB ...

I replaced the G pipe with a standard secondary and was very close to 105dB+ --- so fitted a Wills Tip which brought it back to a safe 103+dB.

There is also an additional insert to pull it back further, but not recommended for more than noise testing [&:]

Porsche got it right for 98dB with the full system, but there's a lot of extra weight right where you don't want it under the rear bumper [:D]

Unless you like playing sideways [:D][:D]

Replace the Cup pipe with standard C2 silencer

If that's 95dB on static, forget it!!!

My car is a standard RS lightweight ( not NGT) with carpet and standard exhaust. It makes 100 to 101 db on noise test at 4500rpm. With hot engine and foot on clutch and just under 4500 rpm it may get under 100 but there is no way it would get 95 db !!!!
My understanding is that any add-on is unlikely to reduce db by more than 2 db.
Get a Toyota Prius - no problem with dbs [;)]

Hola Juan.

This device is simple enough, consists of 12 discs which are placed into a holder. All 12 discs fitted and max noise and hp 2 discs and minimum sound with some loss in hp, so tunable to whatever passes the test.
I had an old tail pipe which got chopped and welded to fit the Suppertrap (cost £10)

Hi,

Thanks a lot to all of you for your advise. I will try first the Supertrapp, seems very easy to fit and it is not very expensive. Regarding the Wills tip, sorry but I have been searching trought the web and I can not find it, Do you know where can I get it?

Best regards from Madrid

Juan
