Exhaust ideas?

Hi all,

About a year ago I took my 993 to Gert at Carnewal and got RSR's fitted. At first I liked the noise but I have resonance at motorway speeds and it is grating a little. The car has a nice rumble from the outside which I definitely do not tire of! On my 996 I had the Porsche sports exhaust and that sounded amazing inside and out with little resonance. Obviously sound-proofing etc is better on the 996 but what I am looking for is a good 'dirty' sound with less booming inside the cabin. Have the porsche airbox fitted too but I am sure it is the mufflers that are the culprits.

I love a noisy exhaust but not the tiring resonance - anyone else tried to get a better note going a different route?

Cheers,

Mark

Ya I have had mixed results with various combinations but more recently on my current steed I have been using the Fabspeed back boxes which initially were getting on my ti..s due to the resonance - 6th 70ish 2400 and noise... this resulted in me keeping the car in 5th and allowing the revs over 2800 and it was gone ( only happened cruising on the motorway 2400 - 2600 approx)

or driving at 80 ++

that said I'm not sure if it is the car or me but it didn't see to annoy me reciently..?

I have added a cargraphic 100 cell cat and its gone - sweet

inside & out my exhaust sounds great - it also has resulted in a smoother reving engine and coupled with a good induction kit (mine is an open panel filter) is a no brainer - the car is far more responsive and obviously has more grunt...

interesting that the 100 cell cat loses the resonance - I am assuming it is even louder with that fitted? Thinking about the cat change too....does it not just make the whole lot even louder in the cabin?

It is similar for me though - booming at 70mph on the motorway and at certain revs - apart from that its sweet :)

I have always found Gert an amazingly helpful chap and wondered have you asked him for a solution?
