exhaust manifold gasket

yeah done it anyone who has to do it there is no easy way bloody nightmere! now to enjoy driving it,by the way are there any meets soon cheers matt[:D]

I looked at the nuts on mine and I was baffled. How are you supposed to undo them on the side where the manifold curves in the way?

Ha Ha! Its a right fiddly job. On a few of the nuts you need to do it the old fashioned way with a spanner. Actually, getting the nuts off is the easy bit, you will then discover that the manifold won't come off the studs at it hits the chassis leg. There are a couple of options at this point but I double nut the studs & unwind them & slide the new gaskets in. Generally the nuts & studs do come off without snapping.

I need to do this and replace the gaskets too, that tip on the studs is great, thanks. I had considered painting/powdercoating the manifold either silver or black to tidy up the general appearance of the engine bay but wondered if there were any likely issues with this?

thats what i did with removing the studs!very very fiddly spoke to a garage they say they take the engines out to do them!but managed it and very happy now i can drive it [:D][:D]
