Exhaust Mods and Insurance

I am contemplating having Tubistyle mufflers fitted to "beef up" the soundtrack on the 997S, but after checking with insurers (Liverpool Victoria) to be on the safe side, they inform me that the car won't be covered if I go ahead with the modifications!

Slightly cheesed off I searched on Confused.com and found that only one Company (Endsleigh) would insure with the exhaust mod and they wanted over £2k which is more than double my insurance at the moment.

This all seems a bit of an over-reaction as the muffler mod only increases power by about 8bhp!

Has anyone come across this problem or know of an insurer that won't refuse and/or take the mickey?

I suppose the alternative is to get the PSE retro-fitted (not a modification then, but a "factory fitted" option!) - anyone know the cost?

Try the speciallist Porsche insurers.

A Manning did a talk recently at the Surrey region where they said they would consider modified cars.
