exhaust query

Hello knowledgeable folks.

993 c2 has been in for a service and found that both silencers are blowing. Price from opc for porsche unit is pretty eye watering expensive so can anyone give advice regarding alternatives? I'm not keen on more noisy sports silencers. Have seen the standard style dansk ones advertised but had anyone any experience of these ?

many thanks

Andrew

Hi,

I have fit many Dansk exhaust parts to various Porsche models (mostly 993's and 996's actually fitted a 996 sports kit this week) and have always found them to be of a good quality and near perfect fit. The sports units are not too load and have a good tone so long as you stick with the TUV approved kits.

Hope this helps

well, do they they mean that the exhausts are actually holed, hard to believe as they are stainless steel, or is it just the joints blowing which is a simple repair?

Thanks for the responses all.

They are telling me that it is corrosion related - but I too was surprised given that they are SS, but are saying both sides are the same. Given what others have said, I'm going to take a closer look myself this weekend to understand what is going on.

Thanks

Andrew

I think you will find it is the welded seams of the silencer that have coroaded through. Although stainless I am afraid they still have a life span !! You will also need new fixings, and I would suggest you take a good look at the heat shields too !! [:(]

if thats the case try Douglas Valley for some second-hand ones. Mine's on a 117K and still going strong (I think).
