exhaust question

I've had a rattle coming from under the car and have worked out that the exhaust is held in place either side of the catalyst by 2 "hooks", which hold the exhaust up under the car and hook onto bits of rubber.

One of my hooks has rusted away and I just wondered if any one knew if these hooks were integral to the exhaust, or whether they can be bought seperately? I am hoping my exhaust is safe with just the one hook holding it in place !

cheers

Hi Phil,

I recently ordered the bits to replace my centre exhaust mount from the Exeter OPC, here are the part numbers:

90007508502 Bolt x 2
90007602502 Nut x 2
90002500702 Washers x 8
93111106102 Hook x 1
94411114201 Rubber Mounting x 1
(944 111 307 00) Support x 1
(477 253 139) Clip x 1
(900 910 097 02) Locking Nut x 2

It came to around £30 all in.

Regards

Dave K.

Thanks very much Dave, very helpful.

Can you recall whether the Hook (which i'm sure is the part i need) can be fitted without having to undue any of the exhaust - does it just hook round ?

Hi Phil,

No problem, from the diagram on PET it looks like you can fit the mount without disassembling the exhaust (I hope anyway). You will probably need new nuts and bolts as they will probably be rusted solid and require sawing off. I'm going to tackle this on mine on the weekend (if it doesn't p*** down with rain). Will let you know how I get on.

On my S2 the hook is attatched to the exhaust system at the joint between the cat & rear section by 2 of the 3 bolts that pull the 2 flanges together. I would expect a turbo to be the same but using 2 out of the 4 bolts.

I can confirm its the same on my S, got under the car on Sunday and realised the hanger is mounted by the 2 bolts that hold the joint together. Not sure if I want to start messing with those bolts, anyone else done this job ? I have some replacement bolts so could cut the existing ones off. May have another go this weekend.

Your local exhaust centre would probably do the job for you for peanuts. (well most of them do employ ..........)
