Exhaust - Sports - Noise ??

Noise - All the systems available give different results so wait for recommendations.

Power - Without re-map etc. will liberate next to no real increase.

Milltek - Excellent quality, speaking from experience, deeper tone but only slightly noisier. I wouldn't recommend going cat less, high flow 100/200 cell versions yes but very expensive.

As I have been anticipating, one of the corroded bolts securing the flanged joint between the manifold/catalyst and the main silencer has now failed blowing away part of the gasket. The cheapest and simplest solution, corrosion and seized components permitting, will be for me to buy and fit new bolts and gasket - but should I take this opportunity to fit a sports exhaust system? I really don't want to make the car any noisier than standard but I would welcome the opportunity to obtain a little more power from the engine.
My car is a 2009 2.9 987.2 Cayman.

Thanks.

I always think Miltek is pig iron, would never by one, had 2 cars with them before and they failed.

they are always cheap and 1st to market, the 1st to market gives them the sales, quality it's not.

I'm getting one custom made for me by Tony Banks early August. He can build it to your spec, re noise and tailpipes etc.

I'll let you know how I get on if you want.

Thank you for your replies.

Mikeklein, yes please let us know how you get on. What made you decide to get one made rather than buying a ready made one?

I like the ability to choose my own sound, and tailpipes too. Sadly, it means driving to Leeds to get it done (a 500 mile round trip for me) but at least I'll get what I want. I particularly like the somewhat roarty sound of the newer GT3s (with the lovely burble on overrun) and they assure me they can do that for me.

I then intend to add a GT3 throttle body and IPD plenum to allow the engine to breath better (I gather it was originally designed to take an 82mm throttle body but was downsized to deliberately reduce the power output). I'll then get the ECU remapped.....

No, don't have a thread but I'll do some video of the progress and put the link on this thread if you're interested. The more I've looked into it, it seems the IPD kit I was intending to get actually uses the standard size (but modified) 74mm plenum. With the whole lot installed I should be able to get another 30bhp. I have however been tempted by the Stage 1 bolt on Turbo kit, available from TPC Racing in the States. They claim 100bhp and their Stage 2 kit, with intercooler, can take the car to around 400bhp. Nice. But a bit more expensive. Link here:http://www.tpcracing.com/tpcracing-987-stg1-turbo.html

Back in the 90s I had a 911SC and had a supercharger fitted by a guy called Steve Holgate and that worked fabulously.
