Exhaust strap replacement

Would like to replace the exhaust straps on my RS. Unfortunately my level of DIY stretches to checking the oil/tyre pressures and the occasional coat of zymol, relying on the expertise of others for everything else. Can't imagine that changing the straps is a big job so might give it a go myself.

Does anyone have any hints/ tips that would help or should I go down the well proven route of paying a pro to do the job?

Many thanks

I haven't checked to see if it covers what you want, but I recall that there is a DIY section on

http://p-car.com

that may make you feel more confident about cracking open the socket set on some simple (and some not so simple) DIY tasks on the 993.

By the way, what is wrong with your straps? Are they corroded or are you wanting to fit some MaxPower-style flame thrower system to liven up things outside your local chippy on a Saturday night?[;)]

Piece of cake....last time I had straps off to switch over back boxes I think the only tool required was a 6mm allen socket.....maybe some WD40 to soak the threads first. It will be more difficult jacking the car up [;)]

Thanks chaps. I'll check out the website. The straps are a little corroded, so I thought I'd change them.
I'd love to put on the scaffolding sized end pipes but I could never compete with the cruisers in their Vauxhall Novas down the seafront of an evening! Don't really understand the extra noise, no extra power philosophy anyway!

Looks like I'll give the job a go myself... Expect to hear more when it all goes pear shaped. As you say, Paul, getting the rear in the air without dinging the splitter might be the more difficult job.

Thanks for the help.
