Hello everyone I need some guidance please on type , cost and best place to purchase a new exhaust system poss stainless for my 996 carrera, any suggestions please are welcome and thanks in advance

When you say system do you mean manifolds through to tips?
If it's just the rear mufflers I'm always impressed with the Dansk offering. Good value too.
if you want the whole system prepare yourself for some real hassle getting the manifolds off. The bolts are small and break easily.
Whatever system you decide on, speak with someone that already has it. Some sound great in a video but become impossible to live with day to day. Putting a car back to original is a very common job in the workshop!

Hi, I have dansk sport boxes on mine plus the dansk 100 cel cats and stainless headers, it's not too loud. But u know it's there around 50 to 60 mph. As C2 dweller said I also had trouble with my header about the bolts snapped off in the head, so you have to bare that in mind re cost as it's a bit of hassle replacing. I listened to lots and I really glad I did not go any louder.

I got dansk muffler on my c4s standard cats but s/steel manifolds every one is right the bolts are a pain but I did mine whole job took me about three hours. Your probably find the muffler bracket that goes between the muffler and bracket to block will be rotten. Look on design 911 at the detailed part list drawing and get new bolts that hold the muffler on there about 6 inches long and mine had rusted badly. Where about are you in the country.

More expensive are the Milltek mufflers and bought from eurocarparts with 10% discount. Stainless steel and well made. Not an obtrusive sound on motorway or normal use, but come alive on acceleration and throttle back - best described as a Porsche cup sound. Likewise, offside were completely shot and I had to angle-grind the end-tip bracket. You need to undue the three inner bolts on the hanger, one sheered off and the lower started to round off - lucky after a good soak of WD40 and a coffee I managed to get some traction on the bolt (6 point sockets would help here).

Fortunate as the original offside muffler was showing signs of the seams splitting. I may replace the cat's and manifolds in the future, if I decide to drop the engine some day - read too many horror stories on those manifold bolts - besides manifold only shows surface rust and welds look good.

Hayward and Scott.

Lifetime guarantee and they will fit for free while you wait.

around £800.

Mine has Milltek - looks and sounds amazing, but it was expensive when purchased (not by me) - massive upgrade in power too
