Exhaust System on Ebay

That is the same exhaust as I have fitted to my S2 (and indeed bought from the same seller). When it arrived it is stamped up as a Dansk system, fitted perfectly, is very very shiny and does what it says on the tin. It's been on the car two years now with no problems. If anything it was slightly quieter than my old one, but the old one probably had no silencing left inside and had numerous small holes.

They seem to advertise one every two weeks, so if someone else starts bidding on it don't be tempted to go to a silly price. Just wait until one comes up with no rival bidders and get it for £139 [:)]

Cheers Paul. Did you feel any improvement in performance of your car and did you fit the system yourself? If you did how would you rate the difficulty of the job, bearing in mind I'm a mere novice on the old car mechanic side of things!!

Simon

No improvement in performance (there is nothing you can do to N/A cars that will really make you 'feel' a difference).

It was very easy to fit. Once the car is jacked up safely it's just three bolts (or maybe four) at the front of the pipe and then two bolts on the rear hanger by the tailpiece. It may be worth soaking the old rusty ones in penetrating oil for a few days before you perform the operation and having six shiny new bolts ready for the new pipe.

Hi Guys,
Sorry to but-in, I would be interested to know if there is a weight saving to be had with the Dansk System.
The original exhaust is built like a brick Out-House, 15+kgs hanging from the manifold backwards (probably why the original 23yr old system is still going).
I've just saved 4kg on the track car by switching from a cast exhaust manifold to the later fabricated tubular type.
It would be nice to try and loose some more...

Listen to me, I think I'm becoming a little obsessed.[&:]

I purchased one off ebay, it felt as if it was less than half the weight........but I did not weigh it.

It gave a nice deep growl .......but not chav like......and not too loud.

I would like like to purchase one for my turbo but they all look like they have a lip around the edge of the box. The lux one had no visible seems and was mirror polished.

I can't remember the figures but I did weigh my Dansk back box before fitting to the Turbo and compared it with the original after removal - it was half the weight []

32kg and 16kg rings a bell but I could be remembering wrong.

Mike Paul,
Thanks for the info.
My original centre and rear sections (2.5 lux), stamped Porsche July '83, weigh 7.5 and 11kgs respectively. Both are starting to look a little tired now.
The Dansk sounds like good value for money.
