Exhaust tailpipe sits lower on right than left on 997.2

The right hand tailpipe sits about 1/2 inch lower than the left - neither are loose or rattling. Seems to have been that way for a while (though I have only had this car for about 7 months). Its not really that noticeable but of course when you spot something you keep looking at it.

Its not due to go into my specialist for a while so haven't raised it with them but has anyone had this themselves or can offer any ideas? Thanks
 
Though not something I’ve suffered with myself, I think this can be a symptom of failing engine mounts.

The tailpipe is just a short finisher secured on the true exhaust by a simple pinch bolt.
Take a look underneath to check the pinch bolt is still in place.
The finisher may have become misaligned due to impact, in which case remove it to check for any damage to the main system, then if all's well, replace it and realign accordingly.
BTW posting a photo alongside a query often helps with diagnosis. [;)]

If the pinch bolts are anything like mine when I changed the tailpipes they will be well rusted in situ and need cutting off! However, if you can loosen them off it's easy enough to set the finishers at the same height, as Clive says.
 
Your problem might be the engine mount failing on right hand side. I had the same on my 997 on the left hand side and I replaced both of them.
 
Thanks everyone. Managed to slacken off the tailpipe clamp & with a bit of jiggling around, both tailpipes now sit the same. Hopefully that was it...

You appear to have two accounts? Keithfly1 and Keithfly12? One shows as a member and the other as guest. I don't think you can have two as a member.
