Exhaust Tips - 3.4 pre-facelift

I was reading this:
http://www.911uk.com/viewtopic.php?t=50599

and it got me thinking.. and I found these: - "996 C2/4 EuroCupTail Pipes Twin Oval -02" @ http://www.porscheshop.co.uk/acatalog/porsche_996_exhausts.html

Does anyone have any pics, or experience of what the double-ringed tailpipes would look on the 3.4, as at first sight, it seems they should look good? and as in my opinion the standard small oval, isn't really that brilliant.

Also - am i right in thinking they just bolt on?

What are your thoughts?

Thanks guys.

Hmmmm. "just" isn't quite the right word, as the clamps are bound to be rusted solid unless you are incredibly lucky. The tips are held on with a ring clamp - Part Number 996.111.108.00 at £13.94 each +VAT.

Can't help with a pic of the tips, I'm afraid.

Thanks for the diagram - I saw you posted that before - very good - and also thx for the RMS picture you linked on the other thread - printed it out.. I assume that is a side on view of the rear of the car?

-Anywhere I can buy parts like that online - or is it a trip to a porsche dealer?
-In your opinion - will those double exhausts look good like on the newer models - or will it look out of place?

Thanks again!

I have the single large oval tips on my Aero-kitted C4 and are well proportioned (to my eyes) - personally I think the double ones look odd on 996s I have seen with them.

The clamps are less than £7 each from Porscheshop.

Yes, the RMS pic is taken looking across the car.

As Dave says, PorscheShop, or you could try Design911, Forest Fine, etc. I'm sure they will be just as good, if not the same, as the original Porsche parts.

TBH, I don't really have an opinion on what looks best. They aren't high up on my agenda, as I'm more of a gadget type. Don't think I'm knocking you or the tips though - it's just not something I personally worry about.

I have the tips but mine are made by Dansk. I think they look the dog's danglies. Mine were easy to fit as I replaced my silencers with Oettles at the same time and used new clamps throughout.

Hate to put a wet shower on this, but i looked at this also, but found that my tips were welded onto the down-pipes and as youd expect the couple of welds holding them on where where you couldnt get at them without removing the exhaust system!

hopefully yours are bolted on with clamps, then as above, get new clamps and job done! I do agree, think the oval ones do look a lot better, and theyll be new and shiney!
