Exhaust upgrade

Hi

Having owned my Gen 1 Carrera S for 3 years now, I feel it is time to do something about the exhaust. Does anyone have any recommendations or experiences to shae?

Options seem to include upgrading to the Porsche sports exhaust (although I've seen lots of references to a modification that achieves a similar result for a fraction of the cost) plus aftermarkets such as Miltech. I don't need to worry about long distance motorway driving.

Thanks!

Ps - congrats to everyone who attended Beaulieu super car showdown yesterday. It was great to see so many member's cars!

I had the full Milltek system with 200 cell cats. Very nice deep sound and no engine management faults.

Sounds good! Was that from Design 911?

Out of interest, do you still get the rattle on start up that seems common to all Gen 1 3.8s? I've never been a fan of this

Yes the startup rattle never went away on original Carrera S exhaust. My current GT3 does not suffer that problem.
The Milltek was purchased direct from manufacturer.

Thanks, will check out Milltek.

Congrats on the GT3. I got to drive one last week and it was amazing!

I was disappointed with the standard exhaust on my 2005 C2S and after a year or so thought about selling it, the girlie made me investigate aftermarket exhausts, after looking at all the options I did the "gundo hack" on my standard exhaust with Hayward & Scott, similar to the sports exhaust but without the closable valves, mine has 1.5 inch pipes welded after the exhaust box, 2 inch sounded like a race car..... There is no real difference until you get over 3-3.5k rpm, it does also have a lovely over run burble coming back down the gears.

Makes no power difference or emissions difference (MOT passed) as it's after the cat but in my mind its much faster and enjoyable to drive :)

I was the lucky recipient/buyer of Geoff's Milltek system. Very pleased with it on my '07 Carrera 2 S, a much improved sound.

It was quite a job to remove the existing manifold to head bolts, they are almost guaranteed to be corroded and prone to shear, not a job for home - worth the effort though!

Glad it all worked out for you.
Now since development as stopped on the current car (you know the one I mean)[;)] I hope you haven't forgotten the little trip we talked about.[8D]
