exhaust weights

I trying to reduce the weight of my 4S - over time, bit by bit.

does anyone know the weight difference between the OEM mufflers and Danks sports mufflers?

My car has dansks and I'm hoping to have shaved the odd lb here alone - I've read the oem mufflers are quite heavy.

should be able to find Dansk weights so it's really the oem's I'm after?

Also posted on rennlist - think this could be a difficult question!

Thanks

Thanks Gordon - a bit extreme for me I think but worth knowing for the future.........presumably this would make the car VERY loud?

tricky question...

to save weight, get rid of te rear wiper, which will loose a few kg's if you haven't already ?

lighter wheels, so you have 18's on then consider the Veloce GT1 Monobloc race wheels are exceptionally light at 31kg/68 lbs for the entire set! That's around 7.5kg/17lbs per wheel verses 31lbs per wheel for the Turbo Look on the C4S (IIRC)

regards

'No pain' no gain!

My understanding is that it is slightly quiter than most 964's and less than 105db as you still have the rest of the pipework and tha cat to quiten down. You can probably find a few soundbites about by doing a search on Rennlist.

Planning to do to mine after I've done a track day or two but it wont be as loud due to the Turbo's.

yeah I've seen a lot of people removing the rear wiper - and I thought it was just to improve the looks!

So will most specialists do the work - I thought it would mean replacing the rear window?

If you are really serious about reducing the weight of the car--the place to start is inside the car---if you remove one of the seats you will be surprised at teh weight---high quality after market seats--withouth the electrics will make a major impact on vehicle weight.

Cheers Maurice - I've added the job and the URL to my todo list.

I should add that I want to lose weight without really changing the appearance of the car or it's originality (too much) to the untrained eye - so obviously I've got some serious constraints there. I'm not looking for a stripped out racer but I can really feel the extra weight on the 4S over my old C2...... but then I love the extra trim and looks of the 4S - perhaps I want my cake and eat it? probably.

But with the advice here and there I should be able to make some useful gains..

Thanks.

Thanks.

You'll put all that weight you lost from the car back in if you carry on like that [:)]

ha ha yeah people don't usually consider 'driver weight saving programme' when trying to increase their bhp/tonne do they?......

....I'd rather ditch the seats! I love cake too much.
