Exhaust

My rear exhaust box is rattling on my S2 and it appear whilst it looks perfectly good on the outside the baffles on the inside have come loose. It looks like i need a new rear box. The dansk seems to be the best option? Is it worth removing the cat whilst I'm at it and fitting a decat pipe or is this just not noticeable for the money?

Dansk seem to be of a variable quality for now it seems. The older units seem to last years whereas the newer units can last months. In your shoes I would be tempted to buy the new old stock exhaust on eBay (as pricey as it is) or get a custom back box made up via an exhaust specialist.

Try http://www.jmgporsche.co.uk/ for a Dansk exhaust. He seems to be able to supply the 'good quality' versions and unlike some Ebay sellers will stand by his product. My own S2 has had a Dansk rear box and decat for over 10 years and 80,000 miles with no problem

944S, 2.7l and S2 use a similar exhaust. Porsche split the 2.7l parts half way through production (as with some other items like the FPR) between the S type and the S2 type, but aftermarket manufacturers all offer a single part which suits all three models.

The exhaust on my 2.7 is different from my S2, the manifold/ exhaust joints have the bolt holes as a mirror image of each other - much to my annoyance!

As much as I don't want to do it, Im sure that I will spend half an hour later, looking at PET. Is it not the intermediate section that differs Mike?

The bits that are different on mine are the 2 x 3 bolt joints at the bottom of the 2 x 2 into 1 manifolds, the vertical section near the steering shaft, after that I cant be sure as the 2.7 has a custom one from there back. I like the sounds from the custom setup, so took both systems off, to swap it on to the S2 and it wouldn't fit! Gaskets are the same just mirror imaged. So I just have the custom rear, it has slightly larger tailpipe and no little box in front of the axle.
