A local garage has the ability to build a good stainless system for my 968, which will enhance the performance & smooth out any flat spots , breathing better etc ..Do I have to replace the 'cat' for MOT reasons, or can I use it without please ?
 
Yes you will require a CAT to pass the MOT (or find a very friendly MOT tester) and if you take it out you might want to inform your insurance company too.
