Exhausting the possibilities

I need to do something about the exhaust on my 996.2 C2 Cabrio. It's just failed its mot on emissions as the offside silencer has split along the seam and the other side appears to be on its way too. Porsche have quoted £1800 for replacement but I'm thinking of going with stainless. Does anyone have anything they can recommend. Do I need a full system or are there more cost effective alternatives? I'm based between Sheffield and Chesterfield so somewhere reasonably local would be preferable!
 
Dansk do some really nice, good value alternatives. These might still cost approx 1-1.2k, but they are stainless and come in a few different noise variants. We personally like the super sound, which is close to the PSE.

Thanks for that. Cobra can custom build and install a stainless system for less than the cost that Porsche are asking so it made me wonder what else was out there.

Fundamentally I'm with him on the subject of Dansk.

If rusty seams were your only problem you could pay someone to patch them up but....

I had Dansk Sports fitted in August 2015 for a bit more music but not the full-on battle cry. The boxes themselves then cost £650 but with stainless bits and bobs and an element of gassing off rusty old bits the total bill, which also included a low temp thermostat, drain, refill and bleed the coolant system the whole thing was about £1000.

And, before anyone asks, my dansk-equipped car lives outdoors and is used every day. My wife wouldn't want it any louder and frankly it just sounds more "sport" than "grand tourer".
 
Both the Dansk systems are available from Euro carparts the sports one is about £60 more. Before buying always check EUROCP prices on ebay memory says they were around £570 in Jan and carparts4less prices (ECP subsidary)

Should be around 2.5 to 2 hours labour per side
