Exhausts - please advise

I've just had to remove my off-side rear silencer which was blowing from a patch repair, done prior to my ownership. Unfortunately the only welder available at the time was Stevie Wonder and I think the silencer has had its day!

My car is already fitted with a Cup Pipe and due to the huge cost of a replacement silencer I was wondering if I could also fit a G pipe instead? I realise that this would be removing another silencer from the system but was wondering if it had been done before. Does anyone know how loud it would be with a Cup Pipe & a G Pipe? I think the trouble would be the noise, as I've recorded a 104.9dba at a track day already!

Or has anyone got a good off-side silencer they wish to sell on to a good home?????

As always, your help is much appreciated.

Regards

Steve

Steve,

I don't think you want to comtemplate going with the G-Pipe if you already have a Cup Pipe fitted. That effectively removes ALL the silencers and it will be unbelievably LOUD!!!

Another option would be to re-fit the primary silencer and THEN fit the G-Pipe.

There have got to be quite a few secondary silencers around since a lot of people fit the G-Pipe (I think Rob Hounslow had one recently) - there is always e-Bay!!! If you don't have the original primary you should be able to pick one up pretty cheap.

Dave

You're not wrong! I've just started the car so I can put it away. It certainly is LOUD!

As you say Steve, the cup and G pipes together will sound like an F16 on full chat [:D]
Go to http://www.design911.co.uk/index.htm?Region=UK secondhand parts, buy a primary silencer and then fit your G
this will be the cheaper option as secondary boxes are expensive
