Right i will kick off for today (bit quiet guys, everone working)

Full replacment system

What s out there
Any pics
Where to buy
How much
Stainless or Ceramic coated mild?

Is there any point in replacing it (does it reduce lag)

OK it's a rubbish picture, but it's currently on a shelf about 10 feet of the floor, above my car which is on axle stands, so it's as good as you're going to get for a little while from me.

It's a Hayward & Scott full system in stainless. It made a noticeable difference in spool up when I replaced the front section (ie decat) and made the turbo louder. When I then bought the rest of the system it made the turbo louder still, but not much other difference (except my original back box had fallen apart so it was quieter :ROFLMAO: ). Then I got my MAF kit and you can't hear the turbo for induction noise.

Tony (944Turbo) heard it from outside at an autojumble once and I think said it sounded quite nice...?

Check out the exhausts listed at www.essentialstyling.com, both John Sims and Tony (944Turbo) have one and all other I have spoken to rate them very highly. They were developed properly on a rolling road with Janspeed, sound lovely, and if they did a more normal looking tailpipe I would have one like a shot. Prices are on the site but from memory the full system is circa £500.

Most of the other accessory shops also sell performance stanless steel boxes, www.design911.co.uk , www.type911.co.uk , www.porscheshop.co.uk for about £250

Simon Butterworth from Porscahapart (be carefull with the website address []) also does them and has been known to have decat pipes as well

Essential Styling back box - as produced by Janspeed- £270ish from memory. It looks a little less "Max Power" in real life. I think thay also do a car bypass pipe.

Not a full system I know. I think H&S are your main port of call for that, altough you could try Blue Flame Racing.

Blue Flame produce Mongoose exhausts amoung others and were very competitive when I was looking for an exhaust for my Lux. I did order from them, but this unfortunately coincided with them moving factory. When I couldn't get in touch with them for three days, because of the move as I found out subsequently, I panicked and cancelled my order.

The ESS front de-cat section goes from near the turbo (standard there is a short large bore pipe at the turbo approx 6" long that AFAIK is retained (IIRC with the lambda sensor in it). The other end joins the the rear section at the usual place. In the middle the pipe from the wastegate joins it. I believe the whole thing is larger diameter than the standard pipe, the squared off bit is replaced by a round section. Interestingly Janspeed tried it without a front box first, just straight pipe as Hayward and Scott use (clearly shown in Fen's pic [:D] ) but found no loss of power inserting a front box (roughly where the cat was) and improved sound.

Yes, heard Fen roar off up the road at Husbourne Crawley and it sounded great - (only the front section then IIRC), haven't heard mine from outside when its moving so can't compare, though at Idle mine and Rick's (of Turbot fame) sounded similar at Eynesham - he now has optional exhausts to complicate matters.

The ESS system works out cheaper, give Simon a ring he advertises in Porsche Post for latest deals,

Tony

Thanks i will, prob looking at the start of the summer before i can think of the exhaust, will prob get the wastegate at the same time. Than that will do me for this year!!

and finally the bit where the pipes come from the engine bay ('squashed' pipe on standard car)
