Exhust problems on 997 Carrera S

I've been advised that there is a problem with the baffles in the exhaust on my 997 C2S.

Has anybody else had this problem?

There was a recall notice issued by Porsche earlier this year which I believe related to exhaust pipe fixings for the 997 S - I've always noticed when starting my car from cold that there appears to be a fairly load rattling noise that I was told by my OPC, when collecting car new last year, that this was normal for these cars? This was before the recall notice, since mine has been dealt with there is still a rattlling noise when cold but it doesn't appear to be as significant as it was, but maybe I'm getting used to it?

Kind regards
Christopher

Yes, the tailpipes will more than likely fall off, due to faulty welds on the stock items.

Mine were changed under the recall and some posters have had 2 sets fitted with the problem recurring yet again!

My car used to rattle and buzz on tickover at the back end, even after the new tailpies went on, but I recently had the PSE upgrade and that has fixed that problem.

Hi
I concur with Christopher - exactly the same as mine. The rattle disappears very shortly after start up, (normally with 200 metres or so) and mine has had the exhaust recall too.
Perhaps a compelling argument for the PSE?[;)]

Christopher seems to have described the exact problem that I'm having.

It is especially load when reversing.

Car has had the recall work done.

Perhaps we should all ask for the PSE to be fitted under warranty ? [;)]

Mine had the rattle and buzz vibration noise from the exhaust area, on idle when the engine temperature was up to hot for normal running.

Thought the recall would cure it, but no.

Went back in to have some tailpipe clamps replaced after the initial recall and this seems to have fixed the problem (for now anyways touch wood).
